I've never been a huge fan of Chinese food, (granted, most of the things I've tried have been pretty Americanized) but I'm starting to enjoy going to Chong Qing. Chong Qing is a Sichuan, Szechwan, Szechuan, or however you want to spell it restaurant in Irvine. This region's cuisine is mostly known for their extensive use of garlic and chili peppers, but when I go to Chong Qing, I mostly chow down on their selection of cold appetizers.
I like their wide selection of veggie appetizers to choose from and you can get up to three on one plate for just $5.50 (meat appetizers are $6.50). All the veggies are coated in oily and salty (no surprise there), but manageable as long as you keep drinking their hot tea^^ Still a very light and refreshing treat, in my opinion.
Along with their quick, fast and attentive service; what is there not to love? One of these days, I'll check out their popular spicy fish.
Cold Appetizer Plate (Choose up to 3) $5.50
Potato, Bamboo Shoots, and Seaweed

Tofu and Edamame, Celery(?) and Edamame, and Seaweed

Garlic Eggplant $7.99

I love eggplant! *RAWR*

Don't forget to wash down all that grease with plenty of tea to clear your system^^
