The Getty Center
1200 Getty Center Drive
Los Angeles, California 90049

Okay, now onto the Getty! For those that don’t know the J. Paul Getty Trust consists of the Getty Villa in Malibu and the Getty Center in Los Angeles. At the Getty Villa, you need to make advance reservations, so I decided to go to the Getty Center. Both are free admission, except for the crazy $15 parking fee, but hey it’s LA. Luckily the day I went with my dad, we got free parking. We are still clueless as to why, except maybe it was because the parking attendant made us wait a minute while she finished up an issue. If that was the case, talk about customer service! That’s better than Nordstrom
Try to get there early because once you park, you have to take a tram up to the museum and lines can form like Disneyland if you go later in the afternoon hah.
It’s a really beautiful setting here. The architecture and gardens are just wonderful and learning about the history on the tour was interesting too. Besides coming here for the collections, a lot of folks just come here to enjoy the views and relax. No surprise to the Getty Trust, hence the reason why they provide a picnic area
After strolling around, you’re bound to get hungry quick. You can pick between the Restaurant or the Cafe. We chose the Cafe because it has a huge selection. The Cafe is more like a cafeteria, but improved with separate stations and fresh, quality ingredients. The prices were pretty reasonable too.
Watermelon-Cucumber Gazpacho Cup $3.25
Watermelon, cucumber, lime juice, garlic, yellow and red bell peppers, celery, salt, and pepper
Very interesting “soup.” Seemed more like watermelon juice with extras hah. But was cool and refreshing.
Chicken Salad Sandwich $5.75
Mayonnaise, celery, dill, onions, salt and pepper
Grilled Eggplant Vegetable and Hummus $5.75
Eggplant, red peppers, spinach, and hummus
Don’t get this if you’re a hummus lover! They barley had any hummus on there and it was super dry. For some reason my bread was soaked in the juices and was no bueno. Thankfully, they were so laid-back and were like grab whatever you want to replace it with. So, I got…
Vegetarian Burger $6.25
So much better, grilled and made right in front of ya
Sweet Potato Fries $2.00
Yum, yum!
Greek Yogurt with Honey $5.75
Greek yogurt, honey comb, and market berries
Seriously, this was my favorite! So freaking bomb! MMmmmm…if you love yogurt, this is a must. What a nice dessert treat to end the feast^^
