My friend, Bill was visiting, so I knew the perfect place to check out with him. He hearts Taco Mesa because it is one of the few places in OC that offers vegetarian tacos, so a joint like Ranchos Cocina just blew his mind away!

The have a small outside patio surrounded by plants. I think it is way cute and nice place to sit if you like to people watch while you feel like you’re in a secret garden. If that isn’t your thing, then step right in. The inside is comfy with so much stuff around the place you will keep saying, oh look at that!

House Chips and Salsa

I love when the chips are HUGE!

Quesadilla Suprema $8.95
Cheese, mushrooms, tomatoes, quacamole, and rajas

MMmmm…super yum! I totally underestimated this quesadilla.

Shiitake Taco $3.75

At first glance I didn’t think this was a shiitake taco because it was shaped just like tofu hah. I doubled checked with my waitress and she confirmed it was shiitake. Honestly, I ate it and was still confused what it was haha. Wasn’t bad or anything, but I just was expecting shiitake mushrooms, not “fake” cube shiitake.

Veggie Fajitas $9.95

Bill is a crackhead. Why he ordered this out of the many other items I have no clue. You can get this anywhere. Nothing special. I tried to reason with him and afterwards he felt stupid for not listening.

Veggie Trio Enchiladas $9.95
1 Blue Corn Avocado, 1 Entrijolada w/mole and 1 Tofu
Served with rice and beans

This was super yum. I have to say that the avocado enchilada might seem weird to some folks because the outside is nice and warm, but the avocado is cold in the inside. Still yum, but just a warning.

I’ll be back Ranchos Cocina!

Hahah I know, right? Well it was raining that day. San Diegans can get emo on days that aren't nice and sunny :P
