Wow, what an awesome treat in Las Vegas! Before, I couldn’t stop thinking about Lotus of Siam, now Great Bao comes into the picture and I couldn’t be happier. Now, I may not be an expert in baos, a steam-bun like Asian sandwich, but it doesn’t take a genius to know when you bite into something that is delicious. Oh, GREAT Bao indeed!

Yes, Great Bao may be located inside of a salon, but don’t let that detour you. It’s actually a nice spot inside. Not only do they have two bar seats, but they also have a table for a small party to seat at too. So you can dine in like I did. It was pretty cool to watch Chef Sheridan and his adorable wife, Jenny working the cafe and witnessing the “behind” the scenes action.

They even have a drink menu that offers tea and smoothies. The best part is that Jenny personalizes each cup with an awesome adjective attached to your name, and a sticker that says “you are a great eater!” How GREAT is that? Talk about some motivation ;)

Hot Jasmine Tea $2
Even though that is all great, the real deal is the baos. They have a special where you can get 3 baos and a drink for $10. Schwing, SOLD!
3 Bao Special $10
Roast Duck (twice) and Pork Belly
Delicious! The steam buns were fresh, light, and fluffy which is essential. The detail and presentation of the baos instantly show that Chef Sheridan isn’t messing around. For example, my personal favorite is the pork bao. Chef Sheridan tops the pork with finely ground peanuts instead of chopped peanuts. It totally makes a difference, trust me. Thank you Chef Sheridan for your attention to detail, it is greatly appreciated!

Chicken Bao $3

Of course the baos are meant more for a snack, so you will want more hah. We ordered their pulled pork bao and the chicken bao. I surprisingly really liked their chicken bao too! Still the pork bao won me over, but their chicken and duck bao were still great. They even offer a vegetarian bao, it’s a combo of tofu and mushroom. My friend, Victor had the vegetarian one and enjoyed it very much, even though they ran out of mushrooms and substituted with spinach. So baos for everyone!

Can’t wait to go back!
