Next up on the “oldies,” but goodies is Bruxie. What person in their right mind wouldn’t like a waffle sandwich? I became a huge fan of them while living in Seoul. However, in Seoul they focus more on dessert waffle sandwiches and particularly served with soft serve, a summary on it here
So, I was excited to here that Bruxie offered not only sweet waffle sandwiches, but savory ones. Their most popular one is the Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Waffle. I do love me some chicken and waffles, so I was sold. Bruxie does offer many other delicious waffle sandwiches, so I can’t wait to go back and try their roasted mushrooms and goat cheese, green eggs and ham, and etc.

Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Waffle   $6.95
Served with chili honey and cider slaw (not pictured)
Waffle Fries  $2.50 with combo
I’ve had a few chicken and waffles in my time, but the establishments I have been to so far I either love the waffles or the chicken. Never both! It’s quite frustrating. So far, Bruxie is in the running for having the best of both worlds.
Bruxie’s waffles is light, crispy, yeasty, and not sweet. Their fried chicken is not crispy, but a light fried batter. I normally don’t prefer it that way, but it worked well with the waffle sandwich. The chicken is soft, and the chili honey syrup was a nice touch for some flavor to the chicken, but I needed more of a kick. As always, sriracha sauce came to the rescue :D
I love waffles fries and Bruxie didn’t fail. They had a nice crisp to them and were fresh.
Date Shake  $4.95
I was super excited to see that they had date shakes. The last time I had one was while traveling up north at Bravo Farms. Super filling and delicious, but next time I won’t order one so I can save on calories for their sweet waffles.
The historic Old Towne Orange location is their first location, and has expanded out to Brea and Rancho Santa Margarita. I suggest visiting their first location since it’s located in Old Towne Orange and can stroll around the different shops before or after eating.
